2017 has definitely been a good year for Primark: first of all, there was that kitschy Disney coin purse that sent shoppers everywhere into a positive meltdown. Next, there was the mid-length gingham summer dress that so many people wanted (so much so that a number of the frocks are now selling for over double their original price on eBay).
And now? Well, now ev-e-r-y-b-o-d-y is on the hunt for a very particular pair of shoes.
Or, to be more accurate, mules.
Check it out:
The flats feature an oversized bow design, and come in three different colours.
Best of all, they’re selling for a very purse-friendly £8 in Primark stores all over the country. Or, to put it more accurately, they’re selling out all over the country – and fast.
So why the sudden obsession?
Well, the shoes have definitely gone down a storm on social media, with Primark’s Instagram post racking up over 25,319 likes and a plethora of positive feedback.
“Love these,” wrote one user.
Another added: “These are ridiculously fab – I’m getting a pair in every colour.”
However there was one comment, in particular, which caught our attention.
“Erm, these are near enough identical to the Prada mules!”

Well, we did a little digging – and, as it turns out, this eagle-eyed fashion fan was definitely onto something.
Take a look:
Unlike the Primark version, the real deal are made from suede and leather – and shoppers have consistently praised them for their “high quality” and “comfort”, which is always a plus when paying for a signature designer piece.
There’s also a blue velvet option, for those who aren’t fans of suede. But, tragically, there isn’t a pair of blue suede slippers available at Prada just yet, so we guess Elvis fans will be forced to look elsewhere for their dancing shoes.
Whether you opt for Prada, or Primark, or somewhere completely different, it’s almost definitely worth investing in a pair of mules this year: this is a fashion trend which isn’t going away anytime soon.
Speaking to Elle, Sean Kirschenbaum (aka the co-owner of The Shoebox) said: “One shoe trend we see really taking over in 2017 is the mule.
“Flat mules, low block-heel mules, heeled mules, sneaker mules, espadrille mules—mules in all fabrications and colours including velvet, satin, canvas, and embroidery.
“They were big for 2016 and they will be even bigger for 2017."
