This River Island coat is also a sleeping bag, and we don't know what's real anymore

Fashion has taken us down some questionable roads this year alone.

From ASOS’s illusion jeans to Balenciaga’s £1670 Ikea-style blue bag, designers have thrown out the rulebook and gotten seriously experimental with our wardrobes this year. So it should come as no surprise to learn that River Island are embracing all things innovative with their own unique take on the puffer-coat trend.

And when we say ‘unique’, we mean it: think a striking pink Ashish puffer – that doubles up as an actual sleeping bag.

It’s official: bedwear as outwear has entered a whole new world.

Having teamed up with designer brand Ashish for a high street gender-neutral collection, the River Island coat comes in a cool khaki colour as well.

And, with cuffed sleeves, a funnel neck, and a detachable blanket (say what?) the padded coat is ultra-cosy.

However, there’s no denying that the £180 coat has divided the internet.

“Is this a joke?”, one posted.

“I'm shocked River Island are selling this! I'll be even more shocked if anyone buys it,” another commented.

“The coat is god awful!,” another posted.

However, others were quick to point out how useful the coat could be since winter is coming…

“It’s a jacket and a sleeping bag all rolled into one - great for festivals!,” one commented.

“Think of how huggable this would be,” another posted.

“That pink coat is everything I need plus more this winter,” another wrote.

One thing’s for sure though, it would certainly make getting out of bed a lot easier in the morning.
