Barely-there sandals, pointed court shoes and ugly dad trainers have dominated the footwear market for the past year, but there is a new shape on the horizon: the square-toe shoe.

Previously known for being clumpy, garish and unfashionable, the square-toe shoe has come full circle and is now the epitome of cool-girl style.

The square toe rediscovered its popularity in February at Milan Fashion Week - where Italian heritage brand, Bottega Veneta, debuted a new direction under the chic vision of Daniel Lee.
