Credit cards at the ready: Jourdan Dunn has launched a whopping new athleisure range for Missguided.
Following successful join-ups from the likes of Kate Moss and Topshop, Alexa Chung and Marks & Spencer and Gigi Hadid and Tommy Hilfiger, the London-born star is the latest supermodel to turn her hand to fashion design with a day-to-night womenswear collection.
The 26-year-old, who describes her personal style as “street chic,” says she wants to make women and girls who buy clothes from the londunn range to feel “effortlessly cool”.
Dunn has modelled for a string of major fashion houses since she began her career in 2007, including becoming the first black woman to walk for Prada in more than a decade in 2008. At recent Fashion Weeks she has been honoured with front row seats to the shows.
Yet, her favourite clothes from her own range are jogging bottoms.
“I style up all the pieces depending on whether I’m going from day to night – so I’ll wear a pair of jogging pants with trainers and then I’ll swap the trainers for the night and wear them with heels to dress them up,” she explains.
“During the course of a typical day in London I might take Riley [her seven-year-old son] to school then run to the gym and go onto a meeting, and then maybe I’ll meet friends for drinks or dinner,” she says.
“None of us really have much time anymore to think about re-creating a total look for each part of our day.”
As well as showing her supermodel pal Winnie Harlow wearing a piece from the range, Dunn has also handpicked five creative young women who are upcoming stars in their own fields to front her campaign, in a bid to “champion female empowerment.”
- Founder of LAPP, Leomie Anderson uses her online female-only forum as a platform to voice women’s issues and promote confidence through fashion
- Rina Sawayama is a digi-pop singer who turns online insecurities into art
- Model and photographer Braina Laviena is an outspoken advocate of freeing the nipple on Instagram
- South London singer Rainy Milo blends jazz with hip-hop and R&B
- Model Georgie Palmer is tipped to be one of the future faces in fashion
