Taylor Swift and Stella McCartney are collaborating to mark the release of new album Lover. Here’s what we know so far…

Weeks after dropping bubble-gum pop record ME!, Taylor Swift has revealed the name and cover art for her new highly-anticipated album while releasing its Pride-themed second single You Need To Calm Down. Fans can listen to Lover in its full entirety when it’s released on 23 August. But that’s not all. In a Swifty first, the singer will also launch a fashion line on the same day.

Swift is collaborating with fashion house Stella McCartney to release the line of clothing which will celebrate the release of Lover. She made the announcement during an Instagram Live video on Friday (14 June), saying: “She’s been a friend for a really long time, and also just a woman I respect so much.”

“I respect what she creates, how she creates it,” she continued. “There’s so much whimsy and imagination and romance to the clothing that she designs, and I’ve worn a lot of her stuff recently.”

Swift added: “She’s heard the new album, and this new collaboration is inspired by the Lover album. I’m so excited about that, and really excited that she would want to collaborate in this way.”

Taylor Swift doesn't need to "suffer" to be creative, thank you very much.

Although no specifics about what the designs will be have been revealed, it will certainly be an eco-friendly and sustainable collection to keep in line with the designer’s ethos. We also predict that it will be rainbow themed, as Swift is currently using her music to campaign for LGBTQ+ rights

During a recent performance at Wango Tango for Pride Month, Swift wore a pair of McCartney’s rainbow “Eclypse” sneakers. She also wore a fairytale blue gown by the designer to the Baftas in February, and chose to wear a pink McCartney dress for her Time 100 feature in April.  Oh, and her cats Meredith and Olivia each have a Stella McCartney pet carrier. So the collaboration makes perfect sense.

Known as a trail-blazer in sustainable high-end fashion, McCartney does not use fur or leather in her collections and has developed a trainer made without any toxic glues.
