Modelling for everyone from Balenciaga to Chanel, being Karl Lagerfeld’s muse and campaigning for humanitarian organisation Doctors Without Borders (DWB) are just a few of the accolades that model Freja Beha Erichsen has racked up on her CV. As if all this weren’t enough, she’s now partnered with ultra-hip denim brand Mother on a capsule clothing collection where 10% of the proceeds go to the DWB charity. We picked her brain about the equally cool places she shops around the world…

The Bookshop

“There’s a bookstore in Williamsburg, New York called Book Thug Nation (bookthugnation.com) that has a brilliant selection of vintage books for about $3 apiece. Walk in mid-afternoon and there’s always two people having some kind of intellectual debate. I’ve bought lots of Virginia Woolf in there – I love To The Lighthouse.”

The Accessories Mecca

“Catbird (catbirdnyc.com) in Brooklyn is my go-to for jewellery. It stocks independent designers and delicate, offbeat pieces. I tend to jump in and out of there and always buy something – specifically for my best friend’s birthday.”

The Concept Store

“I loved walking around Copenhagen exploring when I lived there and discovered the best little concept store in the middle of town called Storm. It stocks a real mix of edgy, super-cool designers like Maison Martin Margiela and Givenchy.”

The Vintage Haunt

“Copenhagen also has the best furniture place – Classis is full of classic Danish pieces from designers like Arne Jacobsen, all second hand but they’re in good condition. Half of my apartment came from there.”

The Designer Emporium

“The Rick Owens (rickowens.eu) store in Paris has a great vibe – I always stock up on his great skinny tank tops and iconic leather jackets, even though I already have way too many of both.”

The Market

“The ones in the south of France never cease to amaze me – the fact that they close down a whole street, fill it with all these beautiful fragrant things and create all that bustle. The best one is in Nice; the food is incredible.”
