There are two types of people in life. The ones who have a wardrobe that looks like this...

neat wardrobe

Or this...

Messy cupboard

If you fall into the latter half (we like to think it's more like 97%), the problem most likely stems from frantic mornings spent trawling through your cupboard to find an outfit you like as the clock ticks at a surprisingly speedy rate. Jeans become unfolded, dresses come off hangers and jewellery gets thrown onto the nearest flat surface. As this process repeats over time, the more your wardrobe becomes a chaotic mess.

But thankfully, in the same way our smartphones have revolutionised our diaries, modern technology offers us ways to make this a thing of the past. We take a look at the top apps that will help cleanse our wardrobes and keep them so organised, we won't ever have to tidy them again.

Shave off minutes spent in front of the mirror

Cluise is a free app which will pull together weather-appropriate, on-trend outfits for you using your own items of clothing, which you are required to upload. It might sound painful, but it's surprisingly quick thanks to its recognition software that automatically inputs the item’s colour and shape.

Just like Cher Horowitz's incredible digital wardrobe in Clueless, the app produces a great outfit within seconds and allows you to save it for a later date. Since Cluise’s 2013 launch, it has gained more than 227,000 members choosing from 1.5 million articles of clothing for its users. “We help our users to combine their clothes the way that they like,” says founder Liuda Nebozhak.

It'll shave off minutes spent in front of the mirror and ensure you only pull out the clothes you need.

Calculate the clothes that give you the least value for money

Fashion app

Closet+, a self-proclaimed Swiss Army knife of fashion assistants, allows you to record your outfits every day and consequently calculate the items you wear the least (therefore need to get rid of) and the most (the ones you need to buy more of).

The free app shows you when an outfit was last worn, what it cost and how much value you're getting from it by calculating a 'cost per wear' number.

It also has a built-in calendar so you can plan what to wear ahead of time by adding your items and outfits to a chosen day and allows you to create packing lists for holidays so you don't find yourself scrambling at the last minute.

Available on iOS.

Take your summer and winter wardrobe division to a new level with the Cloth app which lets you create a personal diary of looks based on where you are and the climate at the time.

Every morning, it will notify you the best looks for the day’s conditions.

There's also a real-time street style search which lets you see what real people are wearing in your city and around the world.

Available on iOS.
