Scotland may lay claim to the unicorn as its national animal, but it’s a Brighton-based shoemakers that’s winning hearts on Instagram with high-top sneakers fashioned in homage to everyone’s favourite mystical horse.

Irregular Choice has been making, well, unusual shoes for 18 years. The brand attracts fans of all things whimsical from across the globe with its fantastical embellished footwear, including glittery swan-shaped heels, sparkly Cinderella slippers and, of course, its unicorn heel, released to much fanfare in 2014.

Now, the theme has evolved. Even ancient beasts with inexplicably pastel-coloured hair need to move with the times and the times are calling for ath-leisure – cue the launch of spiral-horned high tops:

As well as that innovative horn adornment on the tongue, the trainers feature a patchwork of glitter and iridescent sheen, pink fluff, a mini zip-up pouch attachment and...the soles light up.

They’ll set you back £130, but really, what price can you put on unicorn trainers?

If you’re just itching to inject some unicorn magic into your footwear but aren’t keen on the sporty look, Irregular Choice still stocks the classic heeled variety:
