Victoria Beckham: "I want to empower women"

Published

From Spice Girl to designer to mum-of-four to business woman, Victoria Beckham has packed a lot into her 40 years, and she says her goal is to empower other women.

Speaking about her eponymous fashion brand in an interview with Elle Singapore, Beckham said, "I want to make a woman feel her best. I want to empower women."

The 40-yea-old also shared her business tips saying she doesn't let the idea of failure scare her. "I’m not afraid. I think you can learn from everything. I don’t ever think of the negatives, I think of the positives. I’m not competing with anybody else out there; I’m just competing with myself.

"I never went into this to prove anything to anybody, other than myself. I think if you’re too afraid of failure then you won’t challenge yourself, then you won’t move forward. I like to challenge myself.”

Speaking about her contribution to the business, the mother of four said, "I just like to be very involved with every element of my business. And I have a great team of people that work with me.

"But I’m very, very involved. My name is on the label, I have a point of view. And it’s important that it comes from me. I don’t want to hand that over to anybody else. I wouldn’t know how to.”

The star, who is famed for her poker face and rarely flashing a smile for the cameras, also insists that's not a reflection of her true personality.

"People are probably surprised that I have a sense of humour. I like to take the mickey out of myself. As much as I take what I do very seriously, I also want to have fun. I like to poke fun at myself… And I think that surprises people."

Victoria Beckham currently appears on the cover of Elle Singapore in a classic trench coat.
