It may sound simple, but the quality of the pictures you post on resale apps can really affect the chance of a sale. In the same way you appreciate the look of an image on Instagram, resale sites are incredibly visual, so it’s important to make sure pictures are good quality and buyers can see each item properly.

“I pride myself on creating pictures that are clear and uniform,” says Dimery. “I take pictures of every item I sell on the same simple backgrounds – either hung on a nail on a cream wall or on my wooden floor – and I make sure the space is well lit so you can see every detail of the clothes. I hope that when people see my pictures they start to recognise that they’re from my page and will want to visit it directly.”

Dimery advises taking at least one full-length picture of an item, as well as shots of the back and front. You should also think about providing close-up pictures of any details people may want to see more of. Taking a picture of the brand label, especially if it’s new with tags, is also a good idea. “Potential buyers will want to see it’s the real deal,” says Dimery.

When it comes to deciding how many pictures to post, more is more in the world of resale. “The more pictures you have of each item, the less questions people have to ask,” says Dimery. “Also, the happier they’re likely to be with the item, which will be ‘sold as seen’.”
