Put your best foot forward in this season’s sustainable rope sandals…

Let’s face it, there are so many shoe trends this season that it’s tricky to know which ones to go for.

While dad sandals (including Teva’s Velco styles) are leading the way as our fashion editor’s flat shoe of choice, there’s also heeled strappy sandals to think about: the barely-there style is so damn good that Net-a-Porter has sold 11,000 pairs already this year.

In short, it’s safe to say there’s no shortage of must-have styles for summer, but we’re still adding one more to the mix: rope sandals.

The ones we’ve been seeing on our Insta feeds are by US brand, Nomadic State of Mind. The eco-friendly brand has been around since the Nineties, but now the likes of & Other Stories, Office and Free People are all stocking their rope styles.

The sandals are handmade in Nicaragua, made from recycled polypropylene rope and any scraps left over are then recycled into rugs, handbags and water bottle carriers. We love a brand that’s conscious from the off-set, and we’re not the only ones — influencers everywhere have given them the seal of approval.

Check it out…

Fashion editor Anna Borisovna has tied (sorry) her rope slider sandals into her tonal outfit. They not only look effortless with any summer outfit, they’re also 100% vegan, too.

  • Nomadic State of Mind beige sandals

The classic beige will go with any outfit you own.

Influencer Hannah Crosskey has been trying out the cross-over pair. Raffia accessories are big news in general so teaming with a straw bag is a no-brainer this season.

The sandals are so lightweight they make wandering around on a city break or beach even easier — any excuse to go book a holiday, hey?

  • Nomadic State of Mind lace up the leg sandals

Lace up the leg sandals are also key this season so you’ll be ticking off multiple trends in these.

Creative director Giorgia Tordini is also a big fan of the beige style. They’re just made to be worn with white linen by the sea. If the rope gets grubby after you’ve worn them lots then they’re also machine washable — yes, really.

Not keen on beige? There’s other classic colours from black and khaki to tan and red.

Shop the styles below guilt-free knowing you’re buying this season’s most sustainable sandals. You. Are. Welcome.
