World of Chanel opens at Harrods

This month, Chanel is a guest of honour at iconic London department store Harrods. This exciting collaboration includes an exclusive, limited edition Chanel make-up collection, and the transformation of the entire store into a 'world of Chanel'. Stylists fashion director Alexandra Fullerton (who was lucky enough to attend the launch), explains what to expect at this most magical pop-up.

It starts in the street. Flags with interlocking monochrome double Cs flutter from the walls high above the bustling Brompton Road. Instantly recognisable as the globally recognised logo for Chanel, they herald the arrival of the brand at Harrods.

Next, you'll notice the windows. Wild installations of fantastical taxidermy, wolf-headed models head-to-toe in Chanel ready-to-wear, or mini displays of jewellery and bags in windows pull you in. At 9.50am the windows were surrounded by tourists pressing their noses to the glass for an in-depth look.

Inside the super-sized department store Chanel have opened a pop-up shop including ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes and jewellery. On the ground-floor the shop in shop (complete with beautiful Chanel-inspired carpet and tweed-covered chairs), houses choice accessories, ready-to-wear and perfumes and specific pieces created just for the store.

Stylist were particularly taken with the witty take on Harrods' signature olive green waxed cotton totes, re-branded by Chanel. The make-up hall is also a delicious area to play, have a manicure, try out the limited edition collection, buy a giant bottle of Chance and get snapped in the photo booth.

But the 3rd floor is the where the magic happens. The Promenade is a Chanel dream world. Walking through a pearl curtain into a landscaped courtyard garden, complete with fountain, you're left to wander into a series of rooms - the 2.55 bag room (which shows the iconic bag in production), the couture salon with gowns, the life-sized dolls house with Harrods' teddies decked in this season Chanel and a replica of Karl Lagerfeld's library...

Turning 20,000 square feet of space into the ultimate fashion fantasy, Chanel's Promenade at Harrods is open for the next three weeks.
