How important do you think that sense of resilience has been to your success?

I think being resilient is probably the number one factor behind my success. As a player I’ve had a lot of injuries and setbacks, but being resilient has helped me get through that, both on a big level with injuries but also on a day-to-day basis. So overall, I’d say resilience is one of the most important things I’ve possessed during my career, and without it, I think my whole life would have been a pretty different story.

Talking about success, this season Chelsea will be pursuing their fifth consecutive WSL victory – how confident are you feeling ahead of the first match on 1 October?

I’m always confident in our team – we have one of the best teams in the world and we have a great manager. We’ve also made some big signings this year, so if we can build on what we had last year, it’s going to be a really good team. But obviously, other teams around us have got better too, so we have to stay focused. That’s the thing I love about football – it’s always challenging. But I have full belief that we’ll take that fifth title.
