But this isn’t just about mainstream festivals jumping on the wellbeing bandwagon. We’re seeing a huge boom in festivals dedicated to wellness, with more and more partygoers looking for trail runs, coasteering, surfing and Wim Hof methods alongside DJ sets and bands.

Just look at the popularity of Love Trail s, a running festival which takes place on the Gower Peninsula. Sure, you’ve got an impressive lineup, but the real stars of the weekend are the trail run races (ranging from 5K-52K) and yoga sessions.

Theo Larn-Jones, founder of Love Trails, says people are gravitating towards positive, happy and healthy experiences, where “the highs come from challenging yourself, experiencing that fresh air fix and meeting new people”.

“Our whole concept is to create an environment that focuses on adventure, running and wellbeing, rather than drinking culture and the hangovers,” he says. “With Dry January and New Year resolutions, January is when the majority of ticket sales happen for Love Trails. People are looking forward to the year ahead, setting new intentions, looking to move more and signing up for more wholesome activities.”

Other big-name wellness festivals include Soul Circus, The Big Retreat, Verve and Balance Festival. As for completely sober festivals, there’s DryyFest, Into the Wild Festival, Lovejam, and Back to the Roots - and more are popping up all the time.
