Use woven art to cover your TV

I have a love-hate relationship with my TV. Sunday night Netflix binges? Love. Ruining my living room’s carefully curated aesthetic? Hate. Ever since I had it mounted on the wall, I’ve been looking for stylish ways to cover the TV while it’s not in use, and there’s no better time to do this than now. While the weather is sunny and we’re spending more time outside, it’s the perfect opportunity.

The best tutorial I’ve seen comes from Los Angeles-based blogger Kristin Guy, who experimented with using a wall tapestry, hung on a wooden dowel, which sits just outwards from the TV. This idea is particularly timely when we’re seeing thick, textured wall hangings gain popularity, with UK-based brand Pelican House leading the way. Founded by Isabella Valenzia, you might have seen Pelican House’s viral checkerboard rugs at Cotswolds venue Kin House, which took Instagram by storm when the collaboration was launched. Now, the brand has released a collection of woven art that highlights the traditions of artisans in northern India and is crafted from hand-braided jute.

Other places to look out for wall hangings across a spectrum of budgets include previously mentioned Eldorado the Studio, which is open for quilted commissions; Patchwork Copenhagen (from £50), who create small-batch, handmade hanging wall art; and Swedish artist Astrid Wilson, known for her patterned wall textiles (from £300).
