Like all great stories, it started with a tweet…
Twitter user Tegan G. uploaded a photo of, arguably, the cutest puppy ever, and captioned it: “Sooo… I found a puppy in a ditch on my way to work this morning. How was your day?!” She then explained how she hit the brakes after spotting something suspicious on the road during her commute. All it took to lure him into the car was the cheese and nut snack box that she had packed for lunch.
The puppy - pictured with a stuffed toy raccoon while sitting in the passenger seat of Tegan’s car – attracted more than 200k likes, 4,000 replies and 25,000 retweets. His new fans were desperate to find out what would happen to the little guy, so Tegan continued to tell his story…
Despite admitting that she’s actually more of a cat person, Tegan took the puppy into work and he quickly got into the swing of office life.
She then zipped him up in her vest before informing followers that she’d been in contact with the authorities to work out what to do next. It was also confirmed that she had named him Larry – a fine name indeed.
Causing Twitter users around the world to burst into sobs, Tegan later wrote: “It turns out little Larry (center) has three sisters! A very bad person (VBP) dumped them in a rural, wooded area not far from our home. His sisters were dropped off yesterday by an acquaintance of the VBP. Which means Larry stayed out overnight, alone.”
The accompanying photos of Larry being reunited with his siblings broke hearts everywhere.
Then, a little Larry miracle happened, as Tegan announced that she planned to adopt him. An Instagram account dedicated to Larry and his new pink collar was set up for fans who needed more photos of the pooch.
The following day, Tegan shared a photo of the moment that her oldest cat King Leondias of Sparta met little Larry for the first time. It looked like Larry was too interested in his food to care, but at least there was no fighting.
Fast-forward a few days, and Tegan finally went to pick up Larry. She even took an old friend – the stuffed toy racoon – to greet him with. Larry and his sisters enjoyed playing with the raccoon and tearing him apart.
It was then home time for Larry.
And just to celebrate such a happy ending, here’s one last photo.
