Golden retriever
With its blonde good looks and affable nature, it's little wonder that the golden retriever comes top of the list, with 19 percent of the female vote.
Border Collie
Always alert and ready to play, the Border Collie lands a respectable second place, with 12 percent of women admitting it makes an ideal flirting accessory.
Labradoodle
Too much black curly hair on a man isn't always a good thing - but on a labradooble, it just makes it even more adorable. Seven percent of women surveyed agreed.
Beagle
A noble and undeniably beautiful breed of dog, the beagle is a fair for attracting the opposite sex, netting six percent of the vote.
English Springer Spaniel
In at number 5, also with a six percent backing, it's the English springer spaniel. Ever-friendly and loyal, it's worth its run of morning walks as a canine catalyst for dates.
Jack Russell
Who could resist these perky little ears and stumpy legs? Neither are cossetted traits in men, but in Jack Russells they works a treat to bring about a date, according to five percent of women questioned.
Chow Chow
A keen snout and a glossy, thick coat make the Chow Chow a win with women - five percent believe such a dog would help as an ice-breaker on first dates.
Dalmation
Pongo and Perdita brought about a human love story in 101 Dalmations - and it can happen in real life too. Five percent of women would be drawn into a conversation with a man if they had a dalmation, apparently...
German Shepherd
Strong, supple and sometimes ferocious, the German Shepherd comes up trumps as a flirting tool, with (yet another) five percent of women rating it as a flirting tool.
Boxer
Last but not least, it's the cheeky and athletic-looking boxer. Four percent of women identified this as a dog to meet your future partner with - or at least inject some chemistry into a conversation...
