For those who hate, hate, hate, double hate, loathe entirely the jolliness of Christmas, the start of the advent period is, to say the least, an irritating time.

But now there’s an anti-advent calendar for even the Grinchiest of characters.

Yep, while you might think there’s no ridding festive jiggles from your head, you’re sick of being blinded by the garish glow of shop decorations and you sneer at everyone else enjoying their winter warmers and sweet treats, now you too can indulge in a special sort of Christmas spirit, courtesy of Prezzybox.

This is the Misfortune Cookies Anti-Advent Calendar – Gruesome Christmas (to give it its full title).

Advent Calendar
Have a miserable Christmas, one and all

That’s right: if the delights of the various booze- or beauty-filled adult advent calendars aren’t enough to tempt you, this paradoxical offering might do the trick,

The gift website reckons that just because you’re not big on Santa, you shouldn’t have to miss out on a daily treat to get you through the cold days of December. The anti-calendar is on sale for £27.99, “filled to the brim with misfortune and dismay”.

The eerie looking calendar is predictably charcoal black in colour, and illustrated with a host of macabre drawings such as wailing elves, spooky pumpkins and undead gingerbread.

Behind each of the 24 doors you can find a vegan-friendly, black-wheat pastry cookie, stuffed with a gruesome, hidden note.

Although the tongue-in-cheek description encourages each loather of Christmas to embrace being “filled with woe” as they open a new door, there’s still some laughs to be had thanks to “grim jokes and black humour”.

And if you like this, you’ll love the other offerings from Pechkek, who specialise in darkly funny misfortune cookies, which they describe as perfect “for friends who you really like, or acquaintances who you can’t stand”.

So  if you’re more of a Jack Skellington (who is soon to be reprised by the way) than a Santa Claus fan, make this gloomy countdown to Christmas yours here.
