Black Mirror’s first feature film, Bandersnatch, arrives on Netflix on 28 December – and the trailer is something else.
Black Mirror fans have been eagerly awaiting a new season since Season 4’s release in late 2017.
And while we know Season 5 is on its way, we didn’t know that we had another treat on the way from Charlie Brooker and pals – a feature length film.
Entitled Bandersnatch, eagle-eyed fans noticed its inclusion on Netflix earlier this month, labelled a ‘Netflix film’. Running one minute longer than Hated in the Nation, an episode from Season 3, it’s the longest feature yet from the Black Mirror team.
And now, at long last, we have a trailer.
Check it out:
The synopsis reads: “In 1984, a young programmer begins to question reality as he adapts a sprawling fantasy novel into a video game and soon faces a mind-mangling challenge. Welcome back.”
The film precedes the Charlie Brooker-created series’ fifth season, airing next year. And, as seen above, Fionn Whitehead, Will Poulter, and Asim Chaudhry will star.
While we don’t have much more info on the film, we do have a few clues from filming shots earlier this year, taken on location in Croydon.

Judging by the above images, the sets point to characteristic creepiness – think buses, travelling to other Black Mirror universe locations, adorned with watchful eyes and slogans including “save your sole” and “your ticket out of here”.
It is also worth noting that Bandersnatch has been referenced before in the show, appearing on the front of a magazine in Season 3.
We also know that at least one episode in Season 5 is set to have a ‘choose your own adventure’ ending, allowing viewers to pick what they want to happen – the first time a film has had this feature on Netflix.
So, whilst we don’t know much about Bandersnatch, we do know one thing – it’s sure to shock, surprise and creep you out.
