Getting on the career ladder is hard… maybe opting for a less competitive role could be the key to success in 2018?

Searching for a new job can be tough (to say the least). But as we continue into 2018, opting for a change in career or simply switching roles could be the best thing – especially if it includes a good salary and less competition.

A recent study carried out by Indeed, one of the world’s largest online recruitment companies, has revealed the least competitive jobs out there, and some might surprise (and even inspire) you.

From a patrol officer to an optical assistant, the study measured how long the role stays unfilled after appearing online after 60 days.

“From the jobseekers’ point of view, these ‘hard to fill’ roles may be worth considering if you’re contemplating a career move,” says Bill Richards, UK managing director at Indeed.

“While some require highly specialised skills, others do not; and with potentially lower levels of competition and some tempting salaries on offer, landing one of these jobs could boost both your career and your bank balance.”

With this in mind, why not opt for a less competitive role and increase your chances?
