Kike Oniwinde Agoro founded BYP Network from her bedroom at the age of 24; it is now a multi-million pound company focused on advancing the careers of Black professionals around the world. She’s also the vice chair of the London Chamber of Commerce Black Business Association.

“My mornings usually involve tackling my emails on my phone while getting my daughter ready. Twice a week, I’ll go into our Liverpool Street office, and typical days are full of meetings, projects and applications. My weekends are strictly for date nights, visiting friends and family, and sometimes we’ll go away for a spa weekend.

I always prepare for a busy day the night before. I’ll look at my calendar to understand the day ahead and check travel times for any journeys I need to make. I try to get quick tasks done in the morning on my phone or see what can be moved. I also make use of my out-of-office, so people know I won’t be contactable.

I always ensure there are breaks throughout my day when I can go for a walk or get some lunch without any screen time. I also set limits so a hectic day doesn’t turn into a hectic week: if I’m back-to-back one day, I make sure the next few days are light on meetings.

I think it’s important put yourself first where you can – there’s nothing worse than being exhausted for no reason. You have to manage your diary well, including putting in lunch breaks, email and deep work blocks. If you’re really struggling I’d suggest getting a virtual assistant or trying AI tools like ChatGPT or FYI.AI to help streamline your day.

Wherever you can, switch your laptop off by 6pm and don’t work again until the morning. Remember: there will always be work!”
