That’s ‘slow down’, though, not entirely sack off your work responsibilities. The research found that UK professionals don’t completely down tools from 20 December onwards, but instead take things at a more leisurely pace. LinkedIn found that while 20% of workers put off starting new tasks until the following year, 30% of those who admit to Christmas coasting still get the job done… just in a slower, more relaxed manner.

And a quarter (26%) of Christmas coasters aren’t putting off tasks at all; instead, they’re using the quieter time to tick off outstanding tasks on their things-I-never-got-round-to lists in a bid to get ahead when January comes around.

The lesson from all this? If you’re finding yourself taking things a little easier, you’re certainly not the only one; and you shouldn’t feel bad for it – the research notes that only 5% of Brits feel guilty for taking their foot off the gas at this time of year.
