“Back in 2020, I began to study nutrition and started working towards a career change. It was during the course that I began to develop a real passion for women’s health, especially in the area of fertility.

Seeing women I care about struggling to understand the issues they were facing due to a lack of easy access to health information, is what inspired me the most. As a Black woman, I also wanted to see someone looking like me do what I do.

Once qualified as a women’s health nutritionist and health coach, I then founded Happy Body (a space offering bespoke advice on women’s health and fertility).

In the beginning, just making sure I had set up my business correctly was a challenge. Every time a letter came from HMRC, I thought it was because I had done something wrong. It may sound basic but GLL took the time to listen to me when I really needed that support.

Managing my digital presence has been a pain point but the service put me in touch with a fantastic organisation called Wenta.

Its insight has been invaluable as they ran an audit of my website and Instagram and identified potential areas of improvement, while also helping me realise I could grow my business by having a more developed and solid digital strategy.

I’ve also absolutely loved Grow London Local’s Coffee Fridays. Being self-employed can feel a bit lonely and meeting other entrepreneurs has felt like a breath of fresh air.
