With girls as young as six years old believing that brilliance is a male trait, we clearly have our work cut out when it comes to empowering the next generation of female entrepreneurs.

And one person who has gender stereotyping firmly in his cross-hairs is New York-based photographer Chris Crisman.

The father-of-two wants his four-year-old boy and two-year-old girl to grow up knowing they can do whatever they want, without condition or barrier.

Keen to blitz the idea that there are jobs that belong to either women or men, he has created Women’s Work, a project that spotlights women rocking jobs traditionally thought of as “belonging” to men.

His dynamic and intimate photos capture women breezily going about “men’s work”, and feature everyone from an Ohio-based firefighter to a rock hauler in a Nevada gold mine and a butcher surrounded by carcasses.
