Looking for a new career opportunity? Then sit up and take note of best places to work in the UK for 2018, one of them could be your next work place.

Let’s face it, we spend most of our time at work. We often see our work wives more than our family and, if you’re in the habit of working late, your desk may become to feel like a home from home.

So, when weighing up your next career move, it’s important to all of us that we find somewhere that’s going to treat us right, reward our efforts and hopefully have some perks thrown in there too.

Cue Glassdoor’s list of the top 25 UK companies to work at next year. Thanks to this leading job search agency, you no longer need to rely on guesswork or the re-telling of friends’ friends experiences to find a company that is loved by its employees.

Glassdoor compiled the list using anonymous employee insight and feedback shared with them over the course of the year. Those polled were asked to rate their workplaces based on parameters such as how satisfied they were with their job overall and whether they would recommend their employer to a friend. The list also takes into account workplace attributes, including career opportunities, compensation and benefits, culture and values and work-life balance.

And the results are truly illuminating.

Despite being ranked at 13 last year, Google has made a huge comeback, nabbing the 2018 top spot for its collaborative attitude, fast-paced technology and awesome people. According to Glassdoor a whopping 91% of employees would recommend the company to a friend, citing benefits as free food, travel expenses and medical care.

Time to brush up that CV?

Coming in at second place is Anglian Water, which as the name suggests is a water company that operates in the East of England. It has been praised by employees for “putting its employees at the heart of what it does” and offering diverse opportunities to progress in house. Anglian Water also has a pretty impessive CEO at its helm, with Peter Simpson being awarded title of highest rated CEO.

Although the list spans a huge variety of industries and companies, there are some names in there that won’t surprise you: for example, Facebook appears at number four, with employees gushing over its cool offices, free food, friendly staff and positive attitude.

Similarly, tech giant Apple graces the top 25, making it to ninth place. Employee reviews congratulated the company of its great people and benefits, though many said the work load was overwhelming and hours were long.

If you’re thinking of taking on a new challenge in the new year then maybe it’s time to re-fresh your CV (although be careful not to make these common mistakes), update your LinkedIn and take a look at the list below. It could hold some inspiration for your next big move.
