“Since the method is all around prioritising, many of my clients are seeking tools and resources to better manage their workloads,” explains Silverton.

“In today’s world, it’s easy for everything to seem urgent and important, but it’s essential to understand that someone else’s urgent and important isn’t necessarily yours. That’s not to say you should ignore your boss, but always consider whether you have to reply to that email right now or if you can continue focusing on your own projects.

“I recommend introducing a ‘coffee break’ into your day where you set aside 15–20 minutes to reply to non-essential emails or get through smaller tasks. If we bulk them all together and get them done in that time, they become a) less likely to overwhelm us and b) less likely to eat into the time we need for our ‘important’ work.

“It’s also essential to learn to say no. You can’t do everything, so the first step of prioritising is deprioritising. It can be a challenge, but it will create so much more time and space in your life.”
