Yasmin Greenaway, Founder of Dermie.AI, uses AI technology to help doctors identify skin conditions. Her company creates tools that act like an extra pair of expert eyes, helping doctors detect issues quickly and accurately.

“As a Founder of a DeepTech company, I use Google’s AI tools regularly,” Yasmin tells Stylist. Her team uses Google tools to teach their systems to recognise rashes or other skin conditions by analysing photos of patients’ skin. Once trained, the AI can quickly spot these conditions in the future.

Yasmin says that the Google tool AutoML was also important in the beginning. It helped to teach her company’s AI the basics and create a quick, early version of the product to test its potential before a full rollout.

Yasmin also shares how AI supports her role as CEO. “I love using Google Gemini,” she says. This is an AI-powered assistant from Google that summarises documents, answers questions, and takes notes. “It helps me digest large volumes of research quickly, which is invaluable given the number of journals and papers I need to review.”

In healthcare, AI is also streamlining complex processes and delivering faster, more accurate results.

Dr. Markella Mikkelsen, CEO and Clinical Geneticist of Molmart, uses AI to help doctors better understand DNA. “Analysing and interpreting DNA data is complex and time-consuming,” she explains. “Our in-house AI tool, MAIA, automates the process from start to finish.”

Markella describes AI as the “brain of the business,” sorting through vast amounts of DNA data to highlight clinically relevant parts. It also cross-checks databases to identify potential links to health problems. “AI ensures the accuracy of our results and keeps our systems updated with the latest research – something a human alone couldn’t achieve within the same timeframe.”

In a similar vein, Dr. Ameera Patel, CEO of Tidalsense, leads a company making AI medical devices that analyse patient data, such as breathing patterns, to detect health issues, like asthma.

“We use AI to interpret data,” Ameera tells Stylist. “It’s faster and more efficient than human analysis, allowing us to handle multiple data streams at once.” By automating these processes, Tidalsense enables earlier and more accurate diagnoses.

Together, these examples demonstrate a common theme: AI helps drive faster, more efficient and accurate processes, making it an indispensable tool for advancing innovation.
