A recent study that measures how appreciated employees feel in the workplace has revealed a significant disparity in job recognition between men and women in the UK.

The research, which was undertaken by employee engagement platform Reward Gateway, found that 30% of women feel underappreciated at work, compared to just 20% of men, highlighting a gap in workplace appreciation.

The study revealed a clear gender disparity in workplace appreciation. Women were also more likely to work in industries such as hospitality, tourism, healthcare and education – all of which are sectors that score lower on the Appreciation Index (a report that identifies key drivers of employee appreciation and measures how valued employees feel in their workplace). In contrast, more men are reported to work in industries like financial services, technology and pharmaceuticals, which report some of the highest levels of appreciation.
