A string of famous retail companies tops a list of Britain’s best places to work for in 2017.

The John Lewis Partnership – which covers John Lewis and Waitrose – is officially the UK’s most desirable place to work for, followed by ASOS, Arcadia Group Ltd and Harrods.

The line-up is compiled by careers network LinkedIn, which analysed billions of actions by its 23 million UK members to figure out which companies come up trumps as far as employees are concerned.

Sainsbury’s Burberry and Selfridges also make the shortlist, alongside tech giants Google, Facebook and Amazon.
