Some top tips for the candidates from The Apprentice: if you want to be more successful in the workplace, taking up positive habits like maintaining balance in life, wanting others to succeed and embracing change are the quickest ways to the top.
A new infographic, created by Success Story, a website that aims to inspire its readers to stay motivated at work, compares the habits of successful people versus unsuccessful people after research into the habits of different successful figures from celebrities to businesspeople.
It shows that successful people spend more time learning from their mistakes, making to-do lists, thinking long term and sharing information and data. All of the habits it highlights are actions that will have a greater impact to your success in the long run - while talking about ideas and taking risks may seem like things that could delay or stint short-term projects, it shows that these are routines to get into that will eventually make you more successful.
Whereas unsuccessful people spend their time criticising others, talking more than they listen and secretly hoping others fail. Habits like acting before you think, holding grudges and taking the easy way out are ones to be broken if you want to succeed in the long run.
The infographic also shows that how you approach tasks has a greater impact on your success in them. Using phrases like "I can", "I did" or "I might" to address a project or idea will almost double your rate of success compared to starting out thinking "I can't" or "I won't".
Thankfully, all the habits shown are those we hopefully strive to achieve in everyday life, such as complimenting others and being humble, and the infographic's data proves that it is worthwhile to keep up these qualities in the workplace, rather than changing our personalities to succeed.
