The hit show, which ran for five seasons from 1997, followed the lives of high school teens in a fictional suburban town in America. As we can recall, Daria may have been a passive aggressive and cynical teen, but she sure did deliver some sound advice on life and coming-of-age.

It’s unclear whether or not Tracy Grandstaff, the original voice of Daria, will reprise her role.

The decision to bring back the series comes with the launch of MTV Studios, a new production unit that hopes to make new shows and reboot old ones – including Aeon Flux, more episodes of The Real World and a new version of Made.

It comes as no surprise that the announcement of a TV reboot has sparked a lot of chatter on social media – with mixed reactions.

“Okay listen, I’m nervous as hell & skeptical about this Daria reboot (I feel like I have a lot more at stake considering she’s carved into my leg) but I’m gonna let myself be excited. And I think it’s okay to be excited about this and wait until it’s bad to get upset #Daria,” one user posted.
