Coming face-to-face with the supernatural may scare some, but – thanks to massive movie hits such as E.T and Casper to Ghostbusters – our fascination with getting up close and personal with paranormal activity has never waned.

Which is why for those out there who fancy their chances at confronting a ghost (a la Bill Murray style), you need to look into joining the Dover Castle Ghost Hunt.

According to their website, the ghost of a little drummer boy is thought to haunt the grounds. And the shadowy apparition of a woman in a crimson dress apparently roams the historic venue (scared, yet?).

From séances in small groups, experiments involving glass divination and using actual ghost hunting equipment, the one-day event at one of England’s most famous castles involves many a ghost fanatic’s dream scenario.

And they need you to join them for an extra-special event.

The remake of the 80s classic Ghostbusters in 2016 starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon may have had many misogynists amongst us muttering – but we reckon being a bonafide ghostbuster would be a serious kick-ass job.

Who knows, maybe you’ll meet a handsome ghost in the form of Patrick Swayze...

Dover Castle Ghost Hunt will start from 9pm – 3am on Saturday 19 August at Dover Castle, Kent. Tickets are priced at £85 per person and are available to buy online. The event is unfortunately not suitable for people with mobility issues or walking difficulties.

You can find out more information about the event here.
