While witches and ghouls come out to play on Hallow's Eve, so do gender norms.

Girls typically dress up as female characters and boys as males, while fewer costumes offer gender-neutrality.

So one father in America is gaining attention for the answer he gave to his three-year-old son who wanted to dress up as Princess Elsa from Disney's Frozen.

In a post on Facebook, Paul Hensen writes, “Anyone that knows us, knows we generally let Caiden make his own choices, to an extent. Well, he has decided on a Halloween costume. He wants to be Elsa. He also wants me to be Anna. Game on.

“Keep your masculine bullshit and slutty kids costumes, Halloween is about children pretending to be their favorite characters,” he continues. “Just so happens, this week his is a princess.”

“I didn’t think I was doing anything out of the ordinary,” Henson told Buzzfeed News, after his post was shared over 26,000 times, with an overwhelmingly supportive response.

Parents are also taking to the comments section on Hensen's post to share stories of their own sons' fondness for Elsa and other female Disney characters.

“I woke up the next morning and I was like, ‘holy crap it’s been shared a couple thousand times,’” he said. “I couldn’t log into my Facebook.”

Hensen says his parenting style is down to the way his own mother and father raised him.

“Him being three, [Caiden] wanted this Halloween to be his,” Henson added. “He made the choice, [so] we stood by it.”

Frozen tells the tale of two sisters, Elsa and Anna, overcoming adversity in their family, a broken relationship and an icy spell. The story has resonated with global audiences and shifted millions at the box office since its release in 2013.

We can't wait to see pictures of little Caiden and his father dressed as the leading characters on Halloween.
