Mark your calendars because the TV series is coming.

Four Weddings and a Funeral may have first graced our screens in the Nineties but even now it’s still the film we turn to on a Sunday night or a rainy day for some comfort. From its brilliant cast line-up to its timeless romantic storyline, it’s a feel good film for all.

Which is why when the news was first announced that a TV series was coming our way in 2019 we were immediately on board.

Now, Andie MacDowall – who played Carrie in the original 1994 hit – has joined the cast line-up. According to Deadline, the actress will guest star as Mrs. Howard (Ainsley’s mother) a newly created character.

Written and produced by Mindy Kaling and Matt Warburton, the Hulu series is due to air next year.

Here’s everything we know so far about the forthcoming TV series of Four Weddings and a Funeral

The plot

Fortunately, the romantic comedy series isn’t going to stray too far from the original plot of the Nineties film. Revolving around four American friends who reunite for a wedding in London, a shocking confession at the altar leads to a year of heartbreak, scandals, more weddings and a funeral.

The cast line-up:

Mrs. Howard – Andie MacDowell

Maya – Nathalie Emmanuel

Craig – Brandon Mychal Smith

Ainsley – Rebecca Rittenhouse

 Duffy – John Reynolds

Gemma – Zoe Boyle

Zara – Jennie Jacques

Basheer – Guz Khan
