Anticipation has been mounting since J.K. Rowling announced in June that Harry Potter fans would be getting a new story in the form of a stage show in 2016.

Now the author has revealed play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be in two parts and forms the eighth story in the world of the boy wizard. But Harry is no longer a teenager - he's an overworked father-of-three with a “family legacy” weighing heavily on his youngest son, Albus.

Details of the (rather confusing) ticketing system were also announced today for both part one and two which officially open at the Palace Theatre in London in July 2016, with preview performances from late May 2016.

A number of priority booking tickets will go on sale at 11am on Wednesday 28 October, before going on sale to the general public. To be in with a chance of bagging those first tickets, fans have to sign up to a priority subscriber list which closes at 11.45pm on Saturday 24th October.

If you miss that slot, general tickets go on sale at 11am on 30 October at harrypottertheplay.com. All are first come, first served.

Theatre-goers who fail to get seats that day can opt for a daily ticket lottery to purchase a seat for that day’s performances which cost £30 in preview, £40 after.

Plus 20 tickets will go on sale online every Friday at 1pm for each of the following week’s performances.

To make things slightly more complicated, the two performances can either be seen on the same day with one ticket, or on separate days with separate tickets.

The website states “because of the epic nature of the story it could not fit into the performance time of a traditional single play and consequently will be told in two Parts.”
