Gilmore Girls Lego is the dream we need to make happen

There have been some pretty fabulous Lego special edition sets over the years, from a Beatles-themed yellow Lego submarine to a kit based on the badass women of NASA.

But the latest kit concept is guaranteed to get Gilmore Girls fans even more excited than Lorelei after a fifth cup of coffee.

An enterprising man by the name of Rainer Zufall has designed a special edition Gilmore Girls Lego set, featuring Luke’s Diner in adorable plastic brick form.

The kit is a perfect replica of Stars Hollow’s most important hangout spot, right down to the smallest detail: check out the dusty teal Lego walls, blue box shelving and ‘No Cell Phones’ sign.

Gilmore Girls’ central characters have also been recreated as Lego figurines. Lorelei and Rory are present and correct, of course, as are Jess, Lane, Kirk and Luke himself (well, no diner can run itself).

Mashable reports that Zufall designed the Lego kit as part of the company’s Ideas project, which allows people to submit their concepts for new special edition sets.

Zufall explains that it was his wife who inspired him to design Gilmore Girls Lego.

“The idea of building Luke’s Diner came to me because my wife is a really big Gilmore Girls fan and she asked me to build Luke’s Diner for her,” he writes on his Ideas page.

“So, since I am a big Lego fan I was glad to do this for her.” (Can we get a collective ‘Aww’ up in here?)

The Ideas project allows fans to vote for their favourite Lego design online. Every design with more than 10,000 followers will then be officially considered by the Lego board for product approval.

Zufall’s design still needs a little under 5,000 votes to make it to the official consideration stage – so if you want to see Gilmore Girls Lego become an actual, sold-in-shops product, you can support the project here.

Dreams can come true, people. Let’s make this happen.
