Get your fill of the funniest and most feminist signs spied at the Global Climate Strike on 20 September 2019 in London. Perfect inspiration for your next protest.
A mere six months ago, most of us didn’t know Greta Thunberg existed. A crazy thought, no? Over the last year the 16-year-old, environmental activist has, quite literally, changed the world. She’s spoken to world leaders, attended the UN climate summits in America and inspired generations of people to wake up to the dire crisis our planet is in.
It all started with a strike; every Friday Thunberg would sit outside the parliamentary buildings in her native Sweden, holding a sign that read: “skolstrejk för klimatet” (school strike for climate). It’s this original rebellion against the government and the lack of action against climate change that has inspired a global movement, resulting in the Global Climate Strike on both Friday 20 and 27 September, just three days before the UN emergency climate summit.
Thousands of people from 150 countries around the world have and will be protesting against global warming, holding their banners high to try and get the attentions of policy makers. You can head to our live blog (that’s right, stylist.co.uk were out in force!) to see what happened in London and below you can see some of the most imagintive, unique and, of course, feminist signs being brandished.
