Bristol based graffiti artist creates huge 'Beauty and the Beast' mural to propose

Published

A Bristol-based graffiti artist has painted what we imagine to be the sweetest graffiti art ever - a Beauty and the Beast mural to prose to his girlfriend of three years.

Henry Barnes, 28, spent two days and used 30 cans of spray paint to cover a 50-foot long wall in Bristol with characters Belle, the Beast, Lumière , Cogsworth and the words "Stacey Smith, will you marry me".

Barnes took girlfriend, Stacey Smith, 26, whose favourite Disney film is - you guessed it - Beauty and the Beast, for a coffee before the couple walked past the public artwork. Smith said 'yes' and passersby reportedly started clapping and cheering when Barnes got down on one knee.

The artist met Smith, a PhD Researcher at University of Bristol, in 2010 at a call center they both worked in.

The couple now live together in Montpelier, Bristol.

In other Beauty and the Beast news, yesterday it was announced that the award-winning Disney film will me re-made into a live action feature after the success of Maleficent. It will be directed by Bill Condon, the director behind Dreamgirls and scriptwriter of Chicago.
