Since actresses started the Time’s Up initiative at the Golden Globes on the red carpet, award shows in 2018 have started to look a lot different.

Which is why at this year’s Grammy Awards, which will honour musicians across the world in New York City on Sunday 28 January, celebrities – from Kelly Clarkson to Dua Lipa - will adorn white roses in a show of solidarity for the Time’s Up initiative.

The planned protest was created by Roc Nation senior VP Meg Harkins and Karen Rait, of rhythmic promotion at Interscope/Geffen/A&M Records.

“It’s very important that we stay on their [Time’s Up] message. The amount of work they have been able to do in just three short weeks is inspiring,” Rait told The Associated Press.

“We have not had the tsunami that politics and Hollywood has had, but we are still women.

“I would want to see men and women wearing white roses and I would like men and women to be able to have meaningful Grammy award speeches when those speeches happen.”
