How long have you been sitting there? Has it been an hour? Or more like five? Can you feel your legs pulling for a stretch and your bottom slowing but surely becoming numb?
Most of us spend over eight hours sat at our work desks and another sizable amount on our sofas at home watching television.
While we know sitting for extended period of time is bad for us, a new infographic points out just exactly what happens to our bodies when we're fiercely working away or watching a House of Cards marathon.
Based on interviews with four scientists, the revealing infographic draws attention to different parts of our bodies and how each section is affected, from fogging our brains to straining our neck to causing 'mushy' abs and limp glutes.
The diagram also demonstrates the correct way to sit and offers some solutions, such as sitting on an exercise ball or backless stool and stretching your hips three minutes per side every day.
Now push your seat back, lift yourself away from your chair and go for a walk. That's the least your body deserves before you get back to work.
