Missed it? Let us whet your appetite. Watched it? Recap on the episode's tastiest morsels
words: John-Paul Nicholas
In brief
In a particularly odd turn of events, the contestants clock on for a day cooking in a tractor factory - followed by a kitchen recipe battle
Heroine of the episode
Like the perpetually good-natured mum she is, nothing could overcome Afsaneh. Even when no-one wanted her moussaka, and Torode said her offal could kill a pheasant if it was shot out of a gun, Afsaneh's crazed laugh triumphed.
Delectably delicious
Shelina's Alphonso mango and caradamom trifle, spiced Mauritian rhumbaba and mango and lime sorbet. All. On. One. Dish… which made Gregg say, "That may well be one of the best desserts I've had ever. I'm serious. That's just absolutely knockout." and John say "Your dessert is close to faultless." Blimey.
Burnt bit
Emma ignored the cardinal rule of MasterChef - the way to Gregg's heart is through his sweet tooth - and made an onion ice-cream. Savoury ice-cream is a Stylist favourite, but for Greggy Bigspoon it was an almost personal insult.
Disturbing thoughts of the episode: inc spoiler
Ex-bouncer Jay seems like he could quite possibly win MasterChef purely because John and Gregg seem afraid to say anything that might anger him.
First Jonathan disappears mysteriously, now Ashvy. MasterChef is taking on a Charlie and The Chocolate Factory flavour with another contestant vanishing each episode. Shame.
Next episode: Wednesday 8 February, 9PM, BBC1
