A reporter in London ceased an opportunity to share her 15,000-word dissertation on Legally Blonde with Reese Witherspoon.
From Madeline Mackenzie in Big Little Lies to Cheryl Strayed in Wild, Reese Witherspoon has played many a fantastic fictional female on the big screen throughout her career. But it would appear there’s one female lead who keeps on inspiring us: the formidable Elle Woods in Legally Blonde.
Which is why one major fan, Lucy Ford, ceased the opportunity to prove how far her love goes for Woods when she interviewed Reese Witherspoon in person during a press junket for A Wrinkle In Time.
“I want to start by saying I’m obviously a gigantic fan of all of you,” Lucy Ford said to Witherspoon and co-stars Mindy Kaling and Oprah Winfrey. “Reese, I actually wrote 15,000 words on you once. I wrote my university dissertation on Legally Blonde and strong female characters.”
Ford continued: “This is just from me, you can read it, you can burn it, you can clean your windows with it, but I feel like that was full circle for me, but I wrote that four years ago.”
Witherspoon, who was clearly touched by the gesture, took the dissertation, saying “Thank you, that really touches my heart.”
“That’s amazing, thank you, that means a lot to me,” Witherspoon said.
Ford also revealed she watched the film 800 times in aid of research.
At the end of the interview, Witherspoon asked: “Is it scented?”
“I actually put perfume on it,” Ford laughed.
It gives her dissertation a little something extra, don’t you think?
