It’s official: The Lion King live-action remake looks brilliant.
With a incredible cast line-up – Beyonce, Donald Glover, Seth Rogan and Chiwetel Ejiofor (to name but a few) – it’s fair to say we’re all already on board and waiting for Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King.
Until now, details have remained scarce but we’re aware that it will be directed by Jon Favreau, who was behind the successful live-action remake of The Jungle Book.
But now the teaser trailer has finally arrived and it looks like the new film will follow the original storyline.
The trailer begins: “Everything the light touches is our kingdom. But a king’s time as ruler rises and falls like the sun.
“One day, the sun will set on my time here, and will rise with you as the new king.”
Enter: the Circle of Life, and emotional reactions, and Rafiki presenting a young Simba to the animals of the Pride Lands.

Fans of the original film were pleased to hear the trailer narrated by James Earl Jones, who played King Mufasa in the 1994 original.
And people have taken to Twitter to share their initial reactions:
The film is due to be released in July 2019, so mark your calendars.
