We think we speak on behalf of commuters everywhere when we say that paying out for tube, train and bus fares each week is one of our least favourite things to do.
And, on Monday mornings especially, things get even more expensive when we’re forced to turn to takeaway coffees in a bid to perk us up.
Thank goodness, then, for this new scheme from Android Pay and Mastercard.

The companies have teamed up to bring you free travel and coffee every Monday in October.
The scheme coves travel costs up to £30.50 on the bus, tube, tram, Thames Clipper boat services, DLR TfL Rail, London Overground, and most National Rail Services in London.
They’re also offering a free caffeine hit in the form of a hot drink from Caffè Nero every Monday morning in October, too.

All you have to do to take advantage of the scheme is to install the Android Pay app onto your smartphone, and link your Mastercard to it.
Once this is done, tap in to pay for your travel and your morning cuppa using your phone, and they’ll automatically refund you the cash.
Mark Barnett, president of MasterCard UK & Ireland said: “Our ‘fare free’ days across London’s transport network have been a big hit with our cardholders, but we wanted to go one step further."
He added: "By also offering a free coffee at Caffè Nero, we hope that the Monday morning commute becomes a little more enjoyable in more ways than one.”
The scheme kicked off on Monday 3 October, but it is set to continue throughout the month, which means you have three more opportunities to treat yo’self to a free journey and hot bevvy on a blustery autumnal morning.
That should help to ease the sting of returning to work after the weekend, eh?
