For those of us who live in London, the long-awaited arrival of the 24-hour tube is a truly cork-popping event – and there's even more cause for celebration now that a central London restaurant has promised to offer bottomless Prosecco to mark the occasion.
In a genius marketing move, Japanese hot spot Yumi Izakaya will offer free refills of Prosecco or draught beer for £20, and, unlike the Night Tube, we know this offer won't be delayed – in fact, it's actually started already.
The restaurant will offer the deal “all day, every day”, during it's opening hours – currently midday until 12.30am, every day of the week.
If the deal sounds like it might get out of hand, rest assured that it's limited to a two-hour period – allowing plenty of time to get merry, but not so merry that you forget about the existence of the Night Tube altogether and make the mistake of booking a pricey Uber instead.
There is also a mouth-watering menu to soak up the booze – featuring pork and ginger dumplings, braised aubergine and bacon-wrapped asparagus – so we're pretty sure this won't be a liquid lunch.
The deal joins a few other bottomless booze offers in London; Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings in Clerkenwell offers bottomless Bloody Marys and Bellinis along with brunch, while Wringer + Mangle near London Fields offers bottomless cocktails alongside their new brunch menu and traditional Sunday roast. For those who prefer bubbles, similar offers featuring Prosecco are available at PizzaBuzz in Shoreditch and the Cookbook Café on Park Lane.
The Soho-based restaurant Yumi Izakaya is a stone's throw from the Piccadilly Line, which will offer a 24-hour tube service from August 19.
