All good news, as we’re sure loyal fans of GBBO will agree.

After all, when we first learned that The Great British Bake Off was moving from its home on BBC One to Channel 4, we were miserable, we feared that Mary and Paul’s split would be irreparable. With Mary making a point about remaining ‘loyal’ to the Beeb, it seemed as if Paul was, by default, disloyal – and he quickly became the scapegoat for incensed GBBO fans across the country.

“I haven’t murdered anyone,” he told The Times, “but the Yorkshire Ripper got less press than I did.

“Mary will never be a villain. I will always be a villain.”
