Meet Britain's biggest burrito

Published

For all those snack junkies and Mexican food lovers out there: good news.

The UK's biggest ever burrito has been rolled out in central London today (7 December), spanning a massive 20 metres.

The monster wrap, cooked up by Benito’s Hat Mexican Kitchen, is drawing hungry Londoners far and wide, all clamouring for a free bite.

All the public have to do to claim a taste of the giant burrito is turn up and prove they are a Facebook friend of Benito’s Hat – either by showing their Facebook fan status on a smartphone or by bringing a print out of their Facebook page.

Those that are lucky enough to eat a slice are also encouraged to make a donation to StreetSmart, the charity that raises money from diners to help the homeless across London.

Benito's head chef Felipe Fuentes Cruz coordinated the creation of the supersized burrito over seven hours to musical accompaniment from a much-loved Mexican mariachi band.

He used over 30kg of the freshest ingredients, including 100 tortillas, 11kg chicken, 5kg of fresh tomatoes and 3.5kg of tomatillos.

Felipe said: "I’ve always loved the idea of making the biggest burrito possible on the streets of London, showing some love to the public. One of our mottos has always been ‘be generous’. By realising this dream both the public and those less well off can benefit from our love of Mexican food."
