Murder Mystery: Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler’s new comedy looks so good

Streaming on Netflix in June, this is an Adam Sandler movie you’ll finally want to see.

Alright, we’re going to put our cards on the table – we’re not exactly what you would call fans of Adam Sandler’s cinematic oeuvre.

But we are fans of Jennifer Aniston, and the pair’s more recent collaboration on a comedy for Netflix has us excited, for once, for a movie starring Sandler. The film, called Murder Mystery, follows a couple on their belated European honeymoon who are inadvertently dragged into a murder investigation.

The trailer for the movie is serving up some serious Game Night comedic energy, with hints of Spy, too – both very good things in our opinion.

Here is everything we know about Aniston and Sandler’s new movie Murder Mystery.

Is there a trailer for Murder Mystery?

There is. You can watch it below. (Get ready to laugh.)

What is the plot of Murder Mystery?

Murder Mystery is borrowing heavily from the Agatha Christie Murder on the Orient Express mode, which is basically plonk a bunch of people in a contained space together so that when a murder is committed everyone is a suspect.

The contained space in Murder Mystery is asuper yacht owned by a mysterious billionaire, onto which Nick (Sandler) and Audrey Spitz (Aniston) are invited by Charles (Luke Evans, an obvious but indisputable bad guy). The bunch of people include Gemma Arterton, playing a glamorous actress named Grace, Terence Stamp and David Walliams.

And the suspects? Everyone, but specifically Nick and Audrey, who are fingered for the murder because they are the only outsiders on the boat. Luckily for them, Nick is a police detective, and he sets about investigating the case from the inside, much to the chagrin of the grumpy French inspector – when are they ever anything but? – played by Dany Boon.

Will they solve the murder? You’ll have to watch the movie to find out.

Is Murder Mystery a comedy?

It certainly is. Murder Mystery has the kind of comedic energy that we have fallen in love with in recent slapstick-based movies including Game Night and Spy. In fact, if those two movies had a love child, it would probably be Murder Mystery.

Murder Mystery: Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler are starring together

If you like this genre of film, you’re going to be spoiled for choice this month. Also in cinemas is Rebel Wilson and Anne Hathaway’s con artist satire The Hustle, which dips from a very similar well.

When is Murder Mystery released?

Murder Mystery streams on Netflix from 14 June. Mark your calendars now.
