Oreo art

Published

When presented with a plate of cookies, our natural instinct is to gobble them all down as quickly as possible, but artist Judith G. Klausner takes a more contemplative approach. Her Oreo art sees her taking the famous Oreo cookies and carving intricate cameo-style portraits out of the delicious vanilla filling.

The artist often uses food as her canvas and in addition to her Oreo cameos has also created a 'cereal sampler', 'toast embroidery' and 'condiment wallpaper' - bringing new meaning to the concept of playing with your food.

The level of detail in Klausner's work is astonishing - every lock of hair and feature has been lovingly carved out in miniature on the cookie cameos, creating miniature works of art.

The artist says: "My work brings to light the beauty (and sometimes humor) in subjects and materials often dismissed or taken for granted. I revel in minutiae. I hope to share the joy this brings me."

We love Klausner's unique perspective, but we must confess as well as being impressed by her skill and dedication, we're also feeling rather peckish now...
