Our New Year's resolutions revealed

Published

A brand new year inevitably brings with it the first-week-back-in-the-office discussion regarding the New Year's resolutions you and your workmates have made. The Stylist office is no exception and so, just for fun, here's just what we've resolved to quit, try out and do more of in 2011. Be inspired to do the same, or else share with us what your resolutions are in the comments section below.

Morag Paterson, Fashion Assistant

I have vowed not to waste my weekends lying in bed and get up at 9am.

Megan Conner, Senior Writer

I'm going to stop squashing myself into tube carriages on the way to work (and nearly fainting in the process), plus read some of the many books overcrowding my bookcase.

Helen Bownass, Contributing Editor

Learn Japanese. Start a restaurant club. Go in a canoe. Not necessarily in that order.

Tom Gormer, Photography Director

I’m giving up all fizzy drinks - apart from Smirnoff Ice and other alcopops.

Stephanie Wood, Assistant Editor (Online)

I absolutely must stop throwing my money away on rent and finally get on the property ladder.

Amy Grier, Junior Writer

I saw Sir Ian McKellen's advert for Age UK and it really moved me so, as of next weekend, I’m going to a day centre once a week to help out. I’ll be doing everything from delivering meals to sitting and chatting with the residents and running errands.

Joanna McGarry, Beauty Director

I plan to stop watching American reality tv shows (Bridalplasty and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are my achilles heels) and finally get stuck into my still-packaged Hitchcock box-set. I fear I have very little hope in achieving this.

Helen Brown, Online Contributor

My New Year's resolution is to get a handyman to put up my shelves and pictures in my flat. I should probably have resolved to learn how to do it myself though!
